Database Design Tour - Database Type

Currently, Visual Case allows you to design databases for the following database types

  • Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 7 & 2000
  • Microsoft Access 97, 2000 & XP
  • MySQL
  • Oracle 8i
  • Sybase 12.5

At any time, you will be able to change the type of the database that you're desiging.  Visual Case will automatically change the datatypes of your columns to match the new dbms that you've selected.

This is a wonderful feature if you intend to move a legacy database to a new platform:  simply use our database engineering tool to reverse-engineer the legacy database, then change the database type to the new dbms that you will be using, make any required changes to the database design, and forward-engineer to the new platform.
